ego alert.

why do we write blogs?

it is, in and of itself, a very self-centered practice.  it insinuates that whatever is going on in your life…your shitty days, your great highs, your thoughts, your interests….are so damn interesting that the rest of the world MUST just want to read all about it.

it’s like those christmas cards that you receive every year from your aunt mildred that lists out every exciting family event of the past year (PUBLIC NOTICE:  uncle jim, no one cares that little susie won first place in her gymnastics competition last summer.  and REALLY no one cares that cujo is undergoing kidney stone removal at the vet’s.)

it’s even better when they’re accompanied by some cheesy photo of the family dressed up in wild west gear or wearing goofy elf costumes (how original!  how cute!).

Ashlee hadn't told Chet yet that he wasn't actually his baby's daddy.

Ashlee was waiting for the right moment to tell Chet that he wasn’t actually his  baby’s daddy.

but i digress.  the answer is….who cares?  the beauty of blogs is the sheer variety of topics that are out there being written by the joe’s of the world.  it’s real public opinion.  it’s a glimpse into the life of another person for a few minutes.  you don’t have to be a Ph.D in English literature to publish a blog- you don’t even need a real point to write a blog.  lord knows i don’t.

so why do i write?  it was a whim, really.  i don’t expect this to go far, and i write for no one but myself.  it’s a place for me to share the little things that make me smile.  trite, but true.
